Roderic Graeme Read
Artist’s bioRoderic Read studied Fine Art at Newport College of Art and Design and illustration at the University of West of England, in Bristol. He has regularly exhibited in the UK and internationally. Exhibitions include The BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery in London, The National Museum of Wales, Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Mall Gallery in London and the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
He was a prize winner at the United Kingdom International Drawing Biennaleand also The Welsh Printmakers Award.
Since moving to Norway in 2000 he has regularly exhibited and was awarded the Exhibition of Southern Norway’s Travel Award. He has had one person exhibitions at the Norwegian Center for Drawing in Oslo, Ibsenhuset in Skien and Reimanngarden in Grimstad. He regularly exhibits with his wife, Janne Rebecca Read at their gallery, Hove Atelier. He has recently illustrated a book, The Rainbow Kite, written by Janne Rebecca Read.
Much of his work relates to a creation of a sense of place, either in urban scenes or the natural landscape, with very strong use of light and shadows.
